Red Riding Hood

( Dedicated to the red riding hood who was killed by the wolves in India)

The line between village and the forest has vanished
The beasts crawl even into her dreams
Sign of changing times, no heroes will come to rescue
And red riding hood get ravaged by wolves
In the country of the savages,by the savages and for the savages
Howlings can be heard everywhere
As we turn into the monsters, our metamorphosis is complete
Her blood in our hands, no longer we can claim to be humans

Go fair maiden to the kingdom of heaven and rest in peace
Far away from this country of beasts

One Hundred Years Of Solitude

.........For the rest of time, it would be like no one even knew we was ever here
                                                                                             (Gangs of New York)

Torn spider webs in old house, dead flower in a book
Footsteps in the sand, paper boats in the stream
Goodbye kisses and hushed whispers under cherry tree
All the nostalgic realities, fighting each other to be singled out
To stand the test of time
To become deathless when we keep remembering

Experience; a glimpse into transitory illusion
Existence; a speck of dust in a cosmic journey
Oceans keep echoing within and we keep circling the dying sun
Of becoming black holes and painful immortality
Memories of stars lie safe with us
Their stories of solitude and the chaos within

The choice to run away and the chance to fit in
And all those countless deaths we died in between
There lies the crux of our solitude
The knowledge that nothing will be same again

Bottom of Pyramid

Water passes through our shoes and stars through our souls
We are the anomalies in a society, the forgotten ones
Our existence is a fight but dream of the future lingers on

Our deaths make the headlines of newspapers
Our misfortunes are recorded in thousands of reports
We don’t have names; we are remembered only in numbers

We feed the world, but have to fight daily with hunger
We build cities, to be thrown out into suffocating slums
We are the walking shadows in every civilization

Live a life of little worth, struggle to extend as far as we can
Try to climb up the stairs of humiliation and hardship
But always pushed down to the bottom of pyramid

Politics is played on our lives, religion is thrust upon us
We are the rats in the labs of capitalism to be experimented on
We were alive once but metamorphosed into skeletons

We are the protagonists in sad fictions; our sad lives are TRP booster
For marketers we are untapped fortune
And all the while no one cares when we shiver in cold and cry in hunger

We are the unfortunate ones, lying at the bottom of pyramid
Ignored for most of our lives like a terrible dream
World talks about us only when it is fashionable in time

Requiem for a Dream

Come walk again in the vineyard of my dreams
I crave for the wine crushed by your feet
Night after night, I wait for the sound of your steps
Unable to hear, I go to sleep in vain

Let's play the game once again
But this time you search and I hide
You just give the hint to dance
I will make Gods to rain it again

Let us wrestle with our destiny once more
to fight for the chance we could have
To walk in the clouds and
to have no excuses and no explanations

O' creature of heart, hear this tune
symphony of moonlight in rain
Come and wake me up from this dream
Else let me cherish you till end of time

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

You seem too perfect, let me ruin you for a while
Put some imagination in your so called reality
You need to start afresh
Let me bring some chaos in your ordered life

You are too clear about wrong and right
Let me take you to the realm in between
Show you all the combinations, million shades of grey
Then you can find the place where you fit best

Let me destroy your nice-to-meet-you existence
Take you to the cliff where your illusion rests
Give you a little push forward
And you can taste freedom in each breath you take

Let me clear all the images and all the convictions you have
You can see the world with new eyes
Let me break you from inside and fix you in this life
And you will be ready for eternity

The God of Small Things

(Dedicated to all those Indians who serve country without any question or need for recognition.
And to remind ourselves that nation is not only a geographic promise but a collective responsibility)

He walked alone in the beginning
Like a clueless kid finding its first steps in the world
Never knew how to begin, where to go
But believed that his steps will make a path for others

When all of us were committed to the role of spectators
Busy in the job of clapping and jeering as the situation called for
He alone had a dream to fight for freedom of his brothers
The unfortunate ones who our so-called-society ignores

He could have stayed back waiting for the world to change
Hidden behind the comfortable life he can easily afford
Could have spent his time commenting about the system
And making big plans for his own future

But alas he was different
Listened to a different drummer and made a way on his own
A God of small things
An ignited soul who knew the true meaning of freedom

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Often it happens
Standing at the crossroad
I wonder which way to take
When each path has its own virtues and vices
Hidden behind the veil of hushed secrecy

Half-listening to their propaganda, I search a place
which marks;
End of reasons and beginning of rainbows,
Free from;
Dogmas and self-deceptions

Gliding like a aimless cloud in the claimless horizon
keep exchanging parts of me for shades of lightness
I seek a place
Where parallel lines do not hesitate to meet
My own little corner in this maze

All the while, I keep humming the little tune
Of summer tranquillity and vanished dreams
Not thinking much
Feels like to be a Neanderthal among Cro-magnons
Often a realisation of unbearable lightness of being
