Memoria

Let us not get confined between when and where
Nor the reasoning shackles of why and how
Or moral dilemmas of right and wrong

Love

Never burn postcards of past
Those secret moments
When I let you weave my soul

Remember the song
Let heart suffer
Through past mistakes, future hopes and last

Insomnia

Let me borrow your insomnia tonight
All your sorrows may pass on to me
May your heart find the joy it deserves
Knowing that, eternity is just a matter of time

Let go of all your troubles
Rest you must for morning will come soon
May my kisses find a place on each of your eyes
Let me remain awake in your dreamless sleep

This side of Paradise

Through Rilke, Neruda and Yeats, trying to find my way
Each word, each poem become a new version of you
I feel the confusion of ages
When even words of those masters fail to express What I need to say

Behind the gossamer veil of reality
We act, play the part to be normal,
To fit into great scheme of things
in the eternal play of masks and mirrors

But after all theses years of exertions
Our souls still have a touch of invincibility
While God still prefer to play hide and seek
In this side of paradise

Intentional Dissonance

In this silent street, as the night approaches
Moon shivers in a pool of water
Through the broken parts of sky, clouds escape
And she seems as distant as galaxy's edge

Wife waiting for her drunkard husband to come home
The unemployed youth dragging himself to his adobe
Tired shopkeepers closing their shops
And my existence lost in her memory

Thousand morbid realities clash with each other
The moon ashamed, disappears in darkness
As dark clouds cover the eyes of the sky
All that remains between me and you, intentional dissonance

Days Go By

The empty old classroom now signifies nothing
Which once sheltered mighty teenage ambitions
As the memories of years rust in silence
Days go by unmindful to its emotions

But look closer, you may find
Furtive glances of secret admirers bouncing on floors
Vacant tables playing dumb charades of hindi movies
And all our daydreams ready to escape through doors

What was once our song, someone else sings it now
What was once our dream, in someone else's heart it lie
But what we felt then, will always remain with us  unmindful to the days passing by
The empty old classroom signifies everything

To A Sister

As the day of her marriage approaches
She becomes a synonym for cocktail of emotions
Sometimes happy for seeing all near and dear ones
At times fakes anger at pranks of cousins
And other-times sad for the all the memories she will leave behind

As I glance through the old photo albums
I can see thousand personas of her
Parent's obedient daughter, my secret keeper
Youngest sister's punchbag & best friend forever
And I cannot help but realize
You don't know what you have got till it is gone

God of Small Things

A permanent poser for digital memories of uninterested tourists
No longer he holds power over life & death, poverty & wealth
Nor he can cure diseases or make rain
Behind the iron bars, he is just an artifact of old days
Not long ago, thousands used to come to his door for a glance of his magnificence
Kings used to bend their knees and offer penance
But those days are long gone, lost between his prolonged sleep and late awakening
Now he is no more omnipotent but just a God of small things
